Scope of Works
The Newcastle Inner City Bypass – Rankin Park to Jesmond project required:
- Bulk Earthworks – clearing and levelling large volumes of material to create a stable roadway base.
- Rock Excavation – precise cutting and removal of hard ground for road alignments and embankments.
- Drainage & Trenching – installation of stormwater and service trenches to support long-term infrastructure.
- Detailed Excavation – shaping batters, road verges, and bridge approaches to engineering standards.
- Soil Stabilisation & Compaction – ensuring durability and long-term performance of the bypass.
Challenges & Solutions
- Complex Terrain: Our team managed excavation in steep and rocky ground conditions using 20t–40t excavators and specialised attachments.
- Live Traffic Environment: Strict traffic management plans ensured minimal disruption to nearby road users and residents.
- Environmental Management: Sediment and erosion controls were implemented to protect surrounding waterways and habitats.
